How host families are selected

• Criminal background checks on every adult in the household
• In-person home visit and interview before approval
• References from neighbours, employers and the local school
• Annual re-screening for returning host families

Ongoing supervision

• A local coordinator contacts the student and host family every month
• Termly academic reports shared with parents in their own language
• A 24-hour emergency line staffed by real people
• Confidential route to report any concern, directly to our team

Health and insurance

Every student is enrolled in comprehensive health insurance before departure, covering doctor visits, prescriptions, emergencies and repatriation. Vaccination records and chronic conditions are shared with the school nurse and host family in advance.

Emotional wellbeing

Homesickness is normal and expected. Students have access to school counsellors, alumni mentors from their own country, and peer groups of other African students in the same region.
